Green Moving Boxes

September 23, 2007

Perhaps, like you, I want to hoard perfectly functional cardboard boxes. For me it’s about not paying for boxes when I’m shipping things I’ve sold on Ebay. It’s also about not deforesting the planet by giving the old ones a new life. Few of us have enough space in our garages for the number of paper vessels needed to move a typical household from one home to the next.  What do you do when you want to be green but need a whole bunch? Used Cardboard Boxes to the rescue!Boxes

The prices are slightly lower than buying new boxes from the other major competitors like U-Haul, but you can rest easy knowing that you are killing fewer trees as you finally move into your country home in the woods. Ah, nature….

Reusing cardboard boxes is SO much better than just recycling them; and what’s easier to reuse than a cardboard box?!

  2. Hi!
I wanted to save a few more trees and post a link to the greenest moving boxes in the world: rentagreenbox.com by earthfriendlymoving.com.

For every 100 Recopacks rented, we remove over 500 pounds of hard to recycle plastic trash from our landfills, prevent over 350 pounds of disposable cardboard trash entering and expanding our landfills, save 3 healthy trees and eliminate over 2,500 pounds of carbon emissions from entering our atmosphere!

  3. Glad to see that you are thinking of the planet. I have often seen people use these used boxes over and over again. You can also browse though graiglist and see people giving moving boxes away. It is a good way to help out our planet.

Wow what a cool concept. It is so hard these days to find truly green companies vs. the green washed companies that are out there. Its kind of one of those things that make you go “Gee, I wish I would have thought of that.” usedcardboardboxes.com is awesome.

  5. Hi! Moving companies are trying to eliminate the use of cardboard boxes now as they are pushing for the sturdy, reusable crates that can be rented and comes cheaper than buying a new cardboard box and much more efficient in handling valuable stuff of the shipper. I guess more and more people are getting conscious of how going green will make a big difference.

You can also try our recently launched marketplace for used boxes: BoxCycle.com.

Our goal is to make box reuse easy enough that more people will do it. We do this by taking care of much of the work and uncertainty of getting and selling used boxes.
